THE CRIF RATINGS METHOD
CRIF Ratings (a company within the CRIF Group) is a ratings agency that is authorised to award ratings, in the form of issuer and bond ratings, to non-financial businesses domiciled in der European Union.
The agency is overseen by the ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority); this is the European authority that monitors the proper functioning of the financial markets. Since 2020, CRIF Ratings has modified its methods so that it can include ecological and social factors in its ratings; as a result, it has become one of the reference points for the ESG assessment of businesses in all sizes and every sector in Italy.
THE TRANSPAREENS PROJECT
CRIF is a partner in the ambitious European TRANSPAREENS project (Mainstreaming Transparent Assessment of Energy Efficiency in Environmental Social Governance Ratings), WHICH IS COORDINATED BY THE CA' FOSCARI UNIVERSITY OF VENICE, AND FINANCED BY 1.5 MILLION EURO FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION. The aim of this project is to revitalise sustainable investments from businesses, even those that are very small, and thus facilitate the ecological transition in an inclusive dimension by offering the market a standard model for a transparent, consistent assessment of ESG factors.
A GLOBAL PRESENCE
The methods and platform used for Synesgy make it possible to assess the ecological, social and governance sustainability of companies across the whole world, and to obtain a consistent ESG sustainability score that can be used to compare companies in accordance with global standards. In the world’s most important economies, Synesgy has also developed methods, assessments and processes to suit the specific local features: country lists.
